![]() Various developer changes, delays and no more than a trailer had people wondering if it was going to go the way of Scalebound and Starcraft: Ghost.įortunately not, and it is finally here! A fully fleshed out sequel, set in the aftermath of L.A (which yes, isn’t an island but shut up), Dead Island 2 is kicking and maiming its way into the newest generation of consoles and PC’s. After nine years, the game that was beginning to look a lot like a myth has finally made it. But is it worth the wait? The Finger Guns review:Īs I said back in my preview, it’s still surprising to see that Dead Island 2 has finally made it. Chucking away the grimness of the first game, it's bold and bloody beautiful. In fact, due to the increase in skills, the last boss fight ends up being the most anti-climactic of the whole game, with little attention needed to take down the final big bad enemy. After many changes and delays, Dead Island 2 is finally here. Despite the level scaling of regular zombies, if the player has completed some side quests and explored Hell-A a little, they’ll find their fury mode too overpowered to make the end game as spectacularly bloody as it could have been. While it adds a new dynamic to the combat, it also has the unfortunate effect of making the endgame extremely anti-climactic. This lack of balance is particularly notable during the end game when the final skill set is unlocked. This might have been to encourage continuing on with side quests and other missions after the final boss is beaten, but for those who aren’t completionists, the pacing of these unlockables is slightly off. ![]() Certain abilities and cards are locked until so close to the end of the story that by the time they are available, they seem almost pointless. If there’s any criticism of Dead Island 2’s combat gameplay, it's that some of it comes just a bit too late. ![]()
